According to http://www.millwardbrown.com/sites/Optimor/Media/Pdfs/en/BrandZ/BrandZ-2007-Top100PressRelease.pdf (which collects survey data), for the first time ever Google is the most valuable brand worldwide, with a brand value (no clue how they calculate that ...) of 66 bn US$. Comparing that to the market capitalization of GOOG (150 bn), almost half of what Google is worth is its name.
That raises another point. Reading Google blogs intensively over the last year or so, i have noticed that people still love google (true, that is sample selection), but i have the feeling that the appreciation for google has declined, and people feel it much more critical towards google than a year ago. (What is your take on that – is google getting more evil?)
So if the decline in appreciation sweeps over to the general public, there should be downward pressure on the value of the GOOG stocks. |
