I am building a new computer this month and need some help choosing a prossesor. At the minute I have a Dell Dimension 3100 with 2.99 Ghz processor. While looking at dual-core's I saw the highest one in my local store was 2.66Ghz. Is a 2.66 dual core better than a 2.99 normal one and if so how and by how much? Thanks.

Ps. Should I go Intel or AMD? A link to the store I mentioned and the processor section below

It is hard comparing only on ghz today, as it does not give a useable picture on processorspeed. As far as my understanding go, a 2.66ghz dual-core is much faster than a 2.99ghz single. I am no expert though, and this is only my understanding of it.
