How many times would we have to use a common misspelling of a word before Google stopped offering a suggestion to correct it? |
Um.. I'd say... a lot.. :P
But i don't know exact numbers.. |
It would be an interesting experiment |
I wonder if added to publishing the misspelling a lot, we'd need to also go to Google a lot to enter the correct spelling, followed by no click on the SERPs + a search for the misspelling, followed by a click on the top result :) (mimicking what may be considered normal user behavior, e.g. you enter "helo" and then see the result is wrong and you enter "hello", but of course in this case doing it the other way around) Also, as soon as the spelling correction is "accepted" by Google I wonder if they monitor the click-thru rates for the correction link... e.g. if no one clicks on it maybe it'll be flagged "unwanted spelling correction" and be disabled? |
