The Removed Google Groups Posts

Seth Finkelstein found the two posts that had been removed from Google Groups in at least Germany. To reproduce this, search Google Groups for e.g. “nicht nur mir sind zumindest keine” and repeat the search with omitted results included. You’ll see Google’s disclaimer*:

In response to a legal complaint we received, we have removed one or more messages. If you wish, you may read the legal complaint.

The posts in question – which were mirrored in as of yet uncensored locations – can be categorized as “holocaust denial,” which is illegal in Germany. (Why does the German gov’t feel the need to hide lies instead of exposing them as what they are?)

*The German version of the disclaimer reads: “Infolge einer rechtlichen Beschwerde haben wir eine oder mehrere Nachrichten entfernt. Wenn Sie möchten, können Sie die rechtliche Beschwerde lesen.”
