Marissa Mayer Interview at DLD (Video)
Mario Sixtus recently asked for some input for his interview with Google’s Marissa Mayer at the DLD conference (see previous post). The video is now live at the German Elektrischer Reporter, and Siggi Becker has a transcript. Questions Mario asked:
- Why did Google buy YouTube?
- Isn’t it risky to rely on ads only for revenues?
- Google releases a lot of products, what’s the general strategy here?
- When will Google OS arrive? (They were talking about a traditional OS, not a web OS.)
- Isn’t there a privacy problems when Google is able to generate user profiles across its services? Quote Marissa: “We don’t cross-correlate information across services, and that’s governed by our privacy policy.”
- Is Google becoming the next Microsoft-like monopoly?
- Will Google’s web apps become an MS Office competitor? [WMV] Marissa: “I think there are some places where the two product lines overlap. But our goals are very different.” (Look, a three-headed monkey behind you!)
- Is Google working on a strong artificial intelligence for 2020?
- Was it an error to censor results for Google China? [WMV]
