Google Street View Australia is Live [Japan, Too]

Google’s camera-equipped cars are driving around different parts of the globe. Now, the third country – after the US, and the Tour de France route – has been Street View enabled in Google Maps: Australia. To view these panorama photos of places like Karratha, Adelaide and Sydney, move over Australia on Google Maps and click the Street View button, and then select any of the camera icons.

[Thanks Hebbet, who spotted it at the Sydney Morning Herald.]

Update: Street View imagery for Japan is live too, as Nick D. notes in the comments! (I updated this post’s title.) [Thanks Nick!]

Update 2: The official Google Maps blog now covers this, writing “we’re also extending our coverage in the US with over 30 new cities including New Orleans (LA), Baton Rouge (LA), El Paso (TX), Wichita (KS), Savannah (GA), and Colorado Springs (CO). And to give you even more of a reason to explore Street View, we’ve hidden a special surprise somewhere in our US imagery so keep your eyes peeled as you take in the views”. [Thanks Colin!]

Update 3: Near-by the Google headquarters, this line-up of what may be Google employees could be the easter egg Google was talking about.
