A (Broken?) Google Attachment Detector Feature

The Gmail Labs offer two new features for you to opt-in to. One is a “Mark as Read” button, which makes that functionality more accessible than picking it from the actions menu, if you need it often. Activate this feature in your Gmail Settings -> Labs tab.

The other experiment is called “Forgotten Attachment Detector” and is supposed to remind you when you refer to an attached file in your mail but then didn’t attach anything when hitting send. It could be a useful feature but it didn’t work here – not when I tried with a normal sentence, and not even when I tried to trigger it with the sample sentence “I attached an attachment because attaching attachments is fun”. It works for others though, and might just catch a restricted amount of phrases.

[Thanks MZaza and Tony!]
