The new imagery sucks. |
The images are so blurry that their new privacy tool is completely useless. I'm pretty sure the image they put in their article in Google Lat Long might be a fake... |
Or maybe the new imagery is not yet live. |
Yes... :) I read only Haochi's article, it wasn't mentioned. But with blurry pictures, no privacy problem! |
Haha, now I feel like a prophet. http://blogoscoped.com/forum/130969.html#id131005

They also block crotches. Unless this guy's crotch looks a lot like a face... http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8&ll=40.85912,-73.938053&spn=0.010516,0.020084&z=16&layer=c&cbll=40.855793,-73.938345&panoid=8AwjGmMxQ4NuV4tqLgbVqQ&cbp=1,154.16325602425908,,1,23.66107035755871 |
If the Google vehicles did multiple passes on each street, I bet they could find versions of each part of each image that only contains the streets themselves. They could uses this to build up Street Views that were devoid of distractions like humans, cars or even horses.. |
Excellent!
This is a really excellent way of using face recognition technology. It is still hard to recognize a face to associate with someone, and it is relatively easy to locate a face and blur it. |
Sooner or later, Google will sell face recognition technology to existing surveillance systems. |
AHAH very nice, smily face of horse |
Yeah, I'm totally spooked out by the face recognition stuff. It will make it very hard to be a bad guy soon. |
