Tony Scott’s Amazon Movie

After the Amazon exclusive short film Portrait by Jordan Scott (niece of director Tony Scott) comes Tony Scott with Agent Orange. Tony Scott also directed one of the BMW films.

Jay-Zeezer

“I’d like to get something out in the open right away. I am completely clueless when it comes to rap music. I don’t know East Coast from West Coast, I’m not really sure if Outkast is a band or just one dude, and I sure as hell don’t know what all this nonsense about someone’s milkshake is either.”

That’s from Mike, the guy who mixed Jay-Z and Weezer into The Black and Blue Album.

GIMP

Who you see here is Wilber. He’s the mascot of GIMP, the open source graphic editor with a feature-set similar to programs like Photoshop or PhotoPaint. The GIMP* also has its own scripting language called Script-Fu. Scheme-based Script-Fu lets you create image manipulation plug-ins to call from the GIMP menu**. To give GIMP a try on Windows just download the GTK libraries and the GIMP itself and install both (in that order).

*GIMP stands for “GNU Image Manipulation Program” – GNU, on the other hand, stands for “GNU’s Not Unix.”

**Scripts are saved into a folder such as GIMP-2.0sharegimp2.0scripts. The plug-in list is refreshed by choosing Xtns -> Script-Fu > Refresh from the menu.

Useful Web Applications

Here are the web applications I use the most. (“Web application” as in: a program running in a browser; a tool used to transform, convert, aggregate or find, but which produces no content of its own.)

What are your favorite online tools?

Color Scheme Generator

I like this color scheme generator (even though it uses outdated hex-notation and “web safe colors” features).

While the German Froogle shop is not yet online, merchants can already upload their product data. [Via Abakus.]

Googlepod

Google-CEO Dr. Eric Schmidt yesterday said [Via SEW]:

“The next killer device is a clearly a personal one. (...) The one I personally favor is putting all the world’s information into the equivalent of an iPod, which will be possible in the next five to 10 years. And if you can’t quite do that, your wireless connection will help you get what you need.”

(Well, I can already access all the world’s information via my Nokia 6600, which lets you download and install powerful web browsers like Netfront Access.)
