A9.com the Verb

[A9]

Recently on a Thursday night episode of The O.C., someone verbified A9.com instead of Google... as in “I A9.com’d him last night.” (Amazon’s A9.com is an interesting search engine from Amazon but it’s certainly not a commonly used verb yet.) This would have been filed under clear and silly product placement, if not for the statement of A9.com CEO Udi Manber, who denied any product placement:

“This placement was not paid for by A9.com or Amazon.com. We didn’t even know it was going to air. We do think it’s great to see this happening though, because it shows people like the experience A9.com offers and that they are telling their friends and family about it.”

Hard to believe? Andy Baio thinks so, and he is investigating on the issue and put up the video clip showing the incident.
