Yahoo Creative Commons Search

John Battelle points out Yahoo launched a Creative Commons search. Works flagged under the Creative Commons license can be used by others, but contain some restrictions – like your work must be non-commercial. Yahoo says their new service “finds content across the Web that has a Creative Commons license. While most stuff you find on the web has a full copyright, this search helps you find content published by authors that want you to share or reuse it, under certain conditions.”

While from the site it doesn’t become clear just how Yahoo assembles the information, it can be supposed they are looking for links to the specific Creative Commons license. These are typically included as a Creative Commons “Some rights reserved” button.
