AdSense Section Targeting

Want to improve how AdSense reacts to your page to adjust its advertisement? Google now allows you just that via section targeting. This means you can surround a portion of your page with special HTML comments to emphasize the content within ...

<!-- google_ad_section_start -->

<!-- google_ad_section_end -->

... or you can de-emphasize specific portions:

<!-- google_ad_section_start(weight=ignore) -->

<!-- google_ad_section_end -->

(Google warns though changes may take up to two weeks before their crawlers react to it... sounds like a long time in internet time.)

Nathan Weinberg says: "This is mighty excellent news. I will implement these changes as soon as I’m done with this post, and report back on the results after a few days. Expect to see all the big forums arguing over what the best placement for the code is."
