Google Video Renting?

Garett Rogers at ZDNet points to the changed Google Video terms of service, which now speak of “renting” videos in several places. Garett thinks this “suggests that they could be getting closer to providing pay-per-view or similar service – of course that would involve some sort of payment system in place (Google Purchases).”

So far, users of Google Video who uploaded their own video content could always determine a USD price for it, but it would not be “active”. Google Video next to the price field currently simply writes, “Adding a purchase price may delay when your video becomes available.”

I need to definitely add another prediction for Google in 2006: Google Purchases will finally be revealed. Probability: 90%.
