Spam Fashions

Spam is like fashion – different types of spam mail designs come and go, and last year’s spam feels completely old-fashioned this year. Some months ago, the most popular spam in Gmail were multiple attachments of text as images. Before that, the “Haiku” spam wave reached mainstream inboxes. This month’s emerging spam fashion are right-aligned Haikus* with animated GIF attachments – the image seems to be empty but when you play it, you can see the last frame is the actual message (content is king, even for spam – these ones seem to be about investment tips).

Only spam designers know what’s next... or, as today’s spam mail put it: “STAY TUNED FOR MORE BREAKING NEWS!”
