Viacom Kills Clip For Copyright Infringement (Though They Were the Infringing Ones)

Hard to believe but apparently true. YouTube pulled a clip from their site at the request of Viacom. So far, nothing unusual. But this clip, which filmmaker Chris Knight uploaded, was actually taken from the Viacom show Web Junk 2.0 depicting... a clip produced by Chris Knight, which Viacom used without his permission. Chris says, “That’s chutzpah.” And YouTube simply complies with these takedown requests, ignoring their users’ fair use rights, though they did offer Chris to send a counter-notice (which Chris did, and is still waiting to hear back – the clip in the meantime is already taken down).
