Sergey Brin Starts Blog

Google co-founder Sergey Brin has started a blog called Too. The blog uses a simple light on black template. Sergey says, “Welcome to my personal blog. While Google is a play on googol, too is a play on the much smaller number – two. It also means ’in addition’, as this blog reflects my life outside of work.”

In his first longer post, Sergey writes about his mother’s Parkinson’s Disease, its relation to his wife Anne Wojcicki’s company 23andMe – a company which provides personal genes analysis, and which Google invested $3.9 million in, and which Sergey had loaned money to – and how Sergey found out himself through 23andMe that he has an above average chance of developing Parkinson’s Disease in his life:

This leaves me in a rather unique position. I know early in my life something I am substantially predisposed to. I now have the opportunity to adjust my life to reduce those odds (e.g. there is evidence that exercise may be protective against Parkinson’s). I also have the opportunity to perform and support research into this disease long before it may affect me. And, regardless of my own health it can help my family members as well as others.

I added the blog to the Google’s blogs ’n more page. Another overview here shows blogs by Google employees (though temporarily some blogs listed may become those by ex-Googlers).
