Load Time of Google Analytics Script

If you depend on Google Analytics to track your site’s traffic, then your page’s load time are to some extent affected by the load time of Google Analytics (putting the GA script towards the end of the page helps, but a load bar may still show longer). Pingdom in an email writes, in reference to their full report:

We have monitored the load time performance (download speed) of the Google Analytics scripts (both ga.js and urchin.js) from Google’s servers, and have found a very interesting performance pattern, especially in Europe.

The Google Analytics scripts load 27% slower at peak hours in North America, and 97% slower at peak hours in Europe (i.e. from European locations).

[Thanks Peter!]
