Google Penalizing Google

It looks like Google penalized one of its own websites. Recently, Google Japan was caught buying blog posts in a promotion campaign for one of its features. At least as far as integrating PageRank-passing links would go, Google gave pretty strong indicators in the past that paid-posts campaigns are unwanted per their guidelines. And while I haven’t received any comment from Google on this, now, head of Google’s anti web-spam team Matt Cutts via Twitter writes, “Google.co.jp PageRank is now ~5 instead of ~9. I expect that to remain for a while.” As Google Japan’s karma goes down, Google HQ is able to show it cares about neutrality.
