Google Japan Bug Showed Gibberish Results

The Google Japan blog recently apologized for an error that had been showing results like above to a portion of the users. According to sources cited by Asiajin.com, the garbled pages sent to Japanese users (and some users of other languages) did not have a correct UTF8 character encoding... a popular error on smaller homepages, but certainly not usual for Google. Confronted with the character mess some users “thought the page as Turkish,” Akky Akimoto writes.
