<<The building now known as the Googleplex>>
Googleplex is a collection of four buildings, not just one. |
Didn't Google rent the Googleplex before buying it, and they had already decorated it before they actually bought it. |
And Good Charlotte was playing there? Why, why? Why I'm not there?! That place seems to be so great! |
"As opposed to Google, Xerox wasn’t really successful in commercializing their ideas"
Hmmm. What is the evidence that Google is any good at commercializing its ideas? As far as I can see it had two good ideas which have been commercialized: (1) pagerank – using the network of links itself to rank pages, (2) adsense – the idea of simple (text) ads, but highly targeted, based on the user's interests as revealed by her search terms.
The immense flood of ideas coming out of Labs since seems to me to be just a way of chucking away revenues. It cannot be that long before the financial community starts to lower the PE. Admittedly investors are sheep, but eventually they will twig :) |
Marcin, Yes they do have more than the 4 main headquarter buildings but they don't own the other buildings as far as I know. They rent the other buildings. When people use the word Googleplex, it is generally in reference to the main 4 headquarter buildings.
