It is sad to see what started off as a great idea – get manipulated.

But this is what happens when you have a high PR Social Bookmarking site and there is no one to constantly edit the submissions.

It does not seem likely the owners would knowingly allow this to happen, they are just too busy to check the site daily.

Apparently, some sex spammers along with a few ecommerce sites have found a gold mine to get PR 6 links for their sites – with a high trustrank to boot.

It is one thing to contribute to a site because you want to get traffic or link love from it – just make the contributions relevant and high quality regardless of the underlying motives.

I noticed recently that Battelle has stopped stopped doing roundups of SearchMob, and wondered why (my internet was off at the time and I was using GReader with Gears).

It's a shame really, especially considering the fact that Battelle focuses on topics including search.
