AOL is the first free email provider to let you create your entire personalized email address from scratch.

So what's the difference between this and Google Apps? Is the domain free?

This looks like a lot like Windows Live Custom Domains (but only hotmail) or Google App (but just Gmail).

Apparently, it's free, but you can only use it for email.

The service was launched last year, but they forgot about it.

<<Consumers will be able to use their personalized My eAddress domain as an email address, as their AIM(R) address to send and receive instant messages and access their Buddy List(R) feature, to access features across the AOL network, and, *coming soon*, as the address of their own personal Web page on the free AIM(R) Pages social networking service.>>

One year later, there's no web hosting option.

[put at-character here]James Xuan AOL also have free local TEL numbers for AIM. But I did not know, AOL found this bug? USE AOL Local Numbers to fake at USA to get Free domain hosting.

Hello, so glad to see that you are all so happy with having AOL...however we, the recipients of AOL messages aren't happy. To name just one reason, with very few exceptions, senders NEVER leave in the msg they are answering and expect us to remember what we wrote, or having to dig into our numerous messages until we find it and see what we wrote so we can answer properly.

A 100 years ago I had AOL (for which I had to pay of course) but I ALWAYS used to first of all, quickly copy the msg and paste it on my answer so the recipient knew what was it about.

Just my 3 cents. :o) Adela
