I read that they bought gcalendar.com too [ via http://google.weblogsinc.com/entry/1234000260061054/].
BTW, when I go to calendar.google.com it logs me out of my Google Account and redirects me through a variety of pages before sending me back to the Google.com home page (which I've noticed recently redirects me to my Personalized Home page)... |
Usually, they release new stuff wednesdays.... maybe next? :) |
Expect this one not to be a conventional calendar. Gcalendar will be to calendar what Gmail has been to mail. The market has stagnated on online calendars, a lot could be done with a simple calendar indeed. One problem is that Google knows more and more about me.

I wonder if it will be like Google Local except for events. For example, I could check my area to see if anything's happening at weekend. That would be pretty cool. Not sure how they'd get the data though... |
hopfully it will be something like umcoming.org and not just another personal online calendar. |
gcalendar.com currently belongs to Data Docket Inc. http://www.whois.sc/gcalendar.com |
Ilana Tamir: Yes, you are correct.
However, Google often register domains via Data Docket Inc. to try and protect their identity. But this is now a well known fact on the web...

i took a screenshot of calendar.google.com earlier today: http://flickr.com/photo_zoom.gne?id=70647144&size=o
apparently there seems to be a kinda' mashup of google local on there with calendar?
found the folder named 'mapfiles' and these urls:
http://calendar.google.com/mapfiles/home.html
http://calendar.google.com/local?f=d

For no fewer than two years, Google has often ignored its own subdomains if there is a 200 OK resolved file on the "www" subdomain:

It appears that calendar.google.com is just showing the same content as www.google.com for now. However, other subdomains like foo.google.com don't work so they're definitely up to something. The "map files" mentioned in a previous comment are the exact same files that are available if you go to www.google.com so nothing to see there. |
