Back in April of this year, Google's CEO announced a new system for YouTube called "Claim Your Content". Eric Schmidt said the system was already being tested and should be released by September. Well its now October and there hasn't been any mention or release of the new system.

Eric's announcement from April:

<< The new system, which Schmidt called Claim Your Content, will automatically identify copyright material so that it can be removed, Schmidt said.

"We are very close to turning this on," Schmidt said. >>

Will we see this new system any time this month?

Maybe the product has been consolidated to reduce the number of Google products and thus will spend the rest of its days unreleased like GDrive.

Or it could just be that they are testing it with partners first (which I have seen in action, a Disney video was uploaded and removed in ten minutes).

They are probably adding to their giant database of digital works so that they can match up video clips to copyrighted work.

I guess right now all of the content providers have to search manually for their work to see if its illegally shared on YouTube and other video sites.

Ran across this message today while surfing through videos on YouTube. :)

Yes – and in July, Google said that Claim Your Content would launch in September.

My take is that Google is running into some major challenges getting this right . . . here's a post dedicated to this topic http://attributor.com/blog/?p=21
