Thanks, this is a brilliant way to switch to Google's US homepage. I didn't know you could switch to the US version of Google's homepage using a simple parameter. Maybe Google should have more options to go to the different versions of its homepage.

On a more serious note, I wonder how you could get the holiday logo in Gmail. The gl parameter doesn't work.

Note: It's not actually the same as Google's US homepage as it still contains the link "Go to Google UK" for me, but it does seem to change certain geo-targeted items.

It's odd that http://www.google.com/webhp?gl=fr doesn't change the UI language to French but http://www.google.com/webhp?gl=uk changes it to UK English.

gl doesn't have anything to do with the language. You should hl to change the language.

Maybe I need to wiki-search what the heck is this celebration. In every US cartoon or movie this event appears, and the only thing I know is they eat turkeys.

I wonder how many vegetarians will use ask.com after today when it loaded with a HUGE turkey in their face.
