I was never a fan of the desktop client. I like pidgin. Of course now, i can't even use the desktop client since i'm Windows free, running Ubuntu, and loving it :) |

I think why Google didn't update the desktop client is kind of consistent with the idea of shifting the main focus to web apps. I would say the Gmail chat is the new trend as people work more often on the web. I just hope to see more integration with other Google products so we could have the same chat window in Gmail, Google Docs, orkut, or even Picasa Web Album ;) |

I think it's funny/sad that every update to Google Talk gadgets makes us yearn for a new client update even more. |
