So, no we know about four new iGoogle themes: this two, the crhistmas one and the one from that Google Germany astronaut page (i can't found the link but was commented here some days ago). I think that the iGoogle Theme directory is coming soon. |

it's funny.... i have three tabs and I selected the sk8r girl's theme, when i was in the middle tab, and the last tab still have the old theme, a bug??? maybe one theme for each tab??? |
Pau Tomàs | 16 years ago # |
e-go: It's not a bug. The themes are set by tab since the last update. BTW, I think there should be at least an option to set the theme for all tabs. |

I didn't know, thanks!!! |

Pau Tomàs, the link to the Astronaut discussion is here:

All those links are dead now though... weird! |

There is also the Carbon Footprint theme ("carbon_footprint") from http://www.google.co.uk/carbonfootprint/index.html |

Martin, cool! I saw that page recently (I think I clicked through from a Web Clip link in Gmail) but didn't realise it added a theme. |

To add the carbon footprint theme:
javascript:_dlsetp('preview_skin=skins/carbon_footprint.xml'); |

You can force the WinterScape seasonal theme to start early by using:
javascript:_dlsetp('preview_skin=skins/winterscape.xml');
I believe this seasonal theme kicks in offiicially on December 22nd the first day of Winter.

ok, I'm not so smart- how do I get the holiday village theme? How about showing me what the url looks like...the whole thing. Sorrreeeee- I'm just not 'there' yet! Thanks! |
Colin Colehour | 16 years ago # |
anya, I don't think the holiday village theme is available any more. They took down the images for it. |
Keith Chan | 16 years ago # |
The TC one is in fact the default theme for Hong Kong and Taiwan's iGoogle homepage. |
Colin Colehour | 16 years ago # |
I just noticed that the carbon footprint theme is the only theme to not have an iGoogle logo. Also, the WinterScape theme has slightly different icons for module controls. |

If you oben the xml file you find a link to: http://www.google.com/ig/skins/tc.css
That file says: ---------- snip ---------------- body,div,ul,li,h1,h2,h3,h4,h5,h6,form..... /* ===============BEGIN BSD LICENSED PORTION============= */ /* Copyright (c) 2007, Yahoo! Inc. All rights reserved. Code licensed under the BSD License: http://developer.yahoo.net/yui/license.txt version: 2.2.0 */ ---------- snap ----------------
YAHOO ?????? |

Talkrabb, yep, Google have been using Yahoo's BSD licensed CSS for some time. Why rewrite when you can reuse? |
Tony Ruscoe | 16 years ago # |
Keith Chan, thanks! Of course, you're absolutely right!
Here they are:

Colin Colehour – Thanks. So maybe I wasn't as dumb as I thought... what a relief |

<<I just noticed that the carbon footprint theme is the only theme to not have an iGoogle logo.>>
I see one, hosted at: http://img2.gmodules.com/ig/images/skins/carbon_footprint/logo.png |
Colin Colehour | 16 years ago # |
They just added the image today. Yesterday, it was the only theme I had that wasn't showing a logo. |
Colin Colehour | 16 years ago # |
Actually, I see the logo when I use Firefox 2, but not when I see the page in IE 6 on a different computer. STRANGE! |

FYI – Google have added titles and descriptions to these two skins now:
http://www.google.com/ig/skins/tc.xml http://www.google.com/ig/skins/skateboard.xml
Furthermore, they're adding thumbnails and screenshots to each skin too.
e.g.
<thumbnail>/ig/images/skins/ig_thumb_classic.jpg</thumbnail> <screenshot>/ig/images/skins/ig_screenshot_classic.jpg</screenshot>
Oddly, the Spring Scape thumbnail and screenshot filenames use "summer_scape" in them (perhaps because Google forgot to do a Summer Scape skin I guess) and the "Carbon Footprint" skin images use "countryside".
Could this mean the directory is on its way soon? |
