sounds like Google is warning users about the newest iPhone update – it automatically converts POP Gmail accounts to IMAP. This is "good", but for people who don't know what happened, they will find that deleting messages actually deletes messages :)

At least the deleted messages are still in the trash for 30 days. The user could always move them out of the trash if its within that time period. |
The real interesting thing about it is that on the "What's new" page http://mail.google.com/mail/help/about_whatsnew.html They blame it on Apple by saying "Important! Note to iPhone users: Apple recently changed the way the "delete" button works for some users in the iPhone mail app."
But on the Gmail blog http://gmailblog.blogspot.com/2008/01/important-changes-to-email-deletion-on.html they don't. They just say "There's a new software update for the iPhone."
Thought that was a little odd. |
