Not new... I remember it used to that one but Google changed it to the standard Google favicon a while back and now they switch back to the Reader one.

I don't know if this is new (I couldn't find it in other posts), but seems like there is a third version of the Google Reader icon, at least if we count the one that appears in My Account.
Right now, I'm seeing this logo:
