Hi there!
It is time for a short update on what's goint on in the BarCamp town of Klagenfurt.
Good news first: With just one week to go – preparations are well on the way.
- T-SHIRTS: We just ordered 120 fine t-shirts at Nakedshirt.com. As like at the last BarCamp in Kärnten we thought about shirts for our female audience too.
- STICKER: The cool BarCamp notebook-stickers are in the press.
- POSTERS: I just picked up the posters. Yes: posters. Not everyone who could be interested in the BarCamp reads our blogs or is in this group.
Now the bad news: We were not as successful in inviting as many people from Italy, Slovenia and Croatia as expected. As you remember: We wanted to have 1/3 of all participants from the region. But we are still positive about getting more participants than those who have yet registered.
But we are still committed to making a true international BarCamp where you can get fresh ideas and take inspiration back home. Every single session with just one non German speaking participant will be held in English. Exceptions are only made when the speaker is really not able to do this.
Your TO-DO: REGISTER: If you haven't registered yet, please do so. We need a rough number for organizing the catering. Please change your status too from "Might coming" to "Coming". Thank you very much! Here's the registration wiki: http://www.barcamp.at/ParticipantsSC
NEED HELP? If you have special wishes or needs (e.g. vegan food, handicaps), pleas drop us an e-mail and we will try to assist you as good as possible: barcamp.senzaconfinigmail.com
TRAVELING: If you are coming from Germany, take a look at TUIfly where you can get quite cheap flights. I don't know about this short time span, but try it! If you are coming from somewhere else, check out the wiki to get travel-information by car or train. There you can find a new section about car-pooling too. http://www.barcamp.at/TravellingSC
ACCOMODATION: There is still plenty of space in the youth hostel (Jugendgästehaus). It is cheap AND good, situated directly at the campus. See: http://www.barcamp.at/AccomodationSC for a google map.
CHILDREN: Will you arrive with your family? Need childcare? So far we haven't yet organized something like that, but we could. Again, just send us an e-mail: barcamp.senzaconfinigmail.com
LEISURE-TIME: For everyone arriving already on Friday, we want to organize a pub crawl in Downtown-Klagenfurt. There will be a meeting point on Friday, Feb 1st, at 6 pm at the main entrance of the university. There you can already check in and get your badge and t-shirt.
In the meantime: We'll try to make the BarCamp a very pleasurable learning environment for you. But please do note that it's up to you whether it will be good for everyone.
See you soon
