# The undersea cable cut has a very interesting effect at my place.
Mails sent from one gmail to another gmail account 15-17 minutes to deliver.

# I'm not able to access settings page on any gmail account.

Hows things with others?

Here from Argentina I don't notice any problem. Is GMail replicated on servers around the world?

Hi Rohit, not sure but a lot of the call centers and BLR and BPO places were really supposed to be badly hit. That had a ripple effect to SLA's in the America's Zone... customer service fails etc etc..

There is in effect the 3rd undersea cable cut , yesterday, that is leaving Iran and certain portion of the Middle East totally in black Out status for internet communications.

Rohit Srivastwa: "[...] Mails sent from one gmail to another gmail account 15-17 minutes to deliver."

Welcome to 1988, when _median_ time for mail delivery Europe <--> USA was approx. 20 minutes.

(In 1986 on PC-to-PC Fidonet, it took approx. 2 weeks EU to Australia ;-))

I recall an event in, I believe, 1990, when the sole academic BITNET link from CUNY/USA to an university in France went down largely for lack of funding for ongoing maintenance (at that time many acad. nodes were connected only by 9600b modems). After a week or so, when the volume of accumulated waiting American traffic threatened to clog future bandwith on that sole somewhat capacitous undersea link, the Yanks sent a tape of it to France by air-mail. Whereupon the French, who at that time were fighting between themselves for which uni would receive funding/ assume über-backbone responsibility for the "Net," and who, at that locality, apparently didn't possess a tape machine of needed sort, rather than go look for one sent it back to the Yanks! Thus, when communications were finally restored, unloading that accumulated mail took months to achieve! [source: personal communication from Eric Thomas, author of Listserv, and own recall].

One is accident
Two is coincidence
Three is ????

Three ... (3rd coincidence).... is a so-called "terrorism act against the US" which is "believed" to be orchestrated by "Iranian agents" or "Al Qaeda" in an "attempt to subvert" our security, communications and government power overseas so our lovely "President" can "dictate" more power to his "administration's agenda" for a "One World Order" government and give some "reason" to the US Congress or "false-flag terrorism act" which can lead the U.S. the next World Word III with Iran.

But then again, our country is so F**ked up now it its just a matter of time before another undersea cable or US satellite is brought down and then blame it on Iranian "hackers". Shame on our pityless-money-hunger-baby-eater politicians!

But any how, i might be crazy too think the impossible outlined above... ;)

....Sooooo!.... how's Google stock doing now?

If we knew, or at least had a suitable! novel! idea of an Anti-Cable Conspiracy Cabal[tm] (a.k.a. AC3), we woudn't be spilling our beans here, but attempt first to monetize the idea, and become in$tant millionaire$ in the process. Or sumphing...

there is the conspiracy theory that is floating around...primary intel indicates that cables were cut, so that Iran maybe isolated for communications. Maybe this is in retaliation to the gulf of Hormuz incident that happened recently .

On Friday, it was discovered that a third cable, off the coast of Dubai, had been cut. And then, over the weekend, a fourth cable, between the United Arab Emirates and Qatar, was reported to be damaged.
