An insider from google plex told me about Gmail's Contacts upgrade which includes importing Hotmail contacts directly plus a lot more features to the contacts..............

Did he tell you when we might see this upgrade?

Couldn't we just assume this was coming from seeing it on their suggestions page and stuff?

Most importantly, will the upgrade be smarter? I hate when a friend sends email with different name but same email address then Gmail considers them to be different. Gmail should recognize it is the same and thus add the new email address to the contacts email list.
