Pdf are on their way to Google Docs, you can upload and manage PDF... |
The dashboard is not new, but the PDF upload certainly is. |
now when will we be able to publish docs to the web in the formats gdocs can export to? |
u can upload pdfs, but u can not open your pdfs |
Now you can open them, and it's pretty good looking :=) |
Any available text is also searchable when viewing PDFs. |
Great add! Very useful! :) |
I love it... but I can't find how to: 1) go from one search result (within the pdf) to another (no arrow, just highlight) 2) zoom (you can do it very well with Ctrl+mouse wheel in FF3, it rocks but most people don't know that) 3) save a Gdocs as PDF without having to download any file 4) click an hyperlink |
Will editing and manipulating of PDF-files come next?
"Working with Collaborators: Sharing PDFs Choose "as Collaborators" or "as Viewers" from the drop-down list." http://docs.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=96713

Cool feature, but highlighting text is not as easy as it is in Acrobat Reader ... and you cannot highlight text foreign language (i.e. language other than English) .. and also, as Jérôme has suggested, jumping to results would be useful. :) |
Mike <<Will editing and manipulating of PDF-files come next?>>
I imagine we'll be able to add/reomve one or several pages in a PDF, reorganize them, change their size, etc.
Why not to be able to add comment and shape?
If PDF (technically called "Document Viewer") is used to release final version of Documents, it would be very useful to be able to share one so that collaborators can revise them *without modifying the doc itself* (just by adding a "review layer" made of highlights, comments, shapes and so on...). Authorized authors would then be able to edit the doc and, later, release a revised final version of the doc, as PDF.
A "must" would be to be able to sync. the PDF (or final version of Doc) "on demand", from the doc itself.

Last night PDF's were still uploading as DOC files and were not useable for me. This morning they are uploading fine and I have to say that the viewer is smoking hot.
I love Google's books viewer and it's great that they brought it to Docs. |

Unfortunately, they didn't. |
Edging slightly closer to GDrive. |
Viewing and Printing works well. But no keyboard control (scrolling, etc) yet. Strange how the find/search command is implemented – a text box with a "Go" button yet it doesn't take you to the found text.
Also, "Share" on the PDF menu takes you to the Help page, but Share from the Docs menu seems to work.
Can't wait til it gets some standard features – and the Docs style menu bar. |

Size Limits
"PDFs: You can store up to 10MB per PDF from your computer and 2MB from the web in your Docs list, up to 100 PDFs." |
Why 100? Why limit by a numerical and not size? It may not be a good long term storage solution. |
<<Unfortunately, they didn't.>>
It doesn't have all of the features yet of the Google Books version, but I bet they all are enabled sooner rather than later. |
I confirm the search feature is COMPLETELY USELESS if we can't navigate from one result to another. Just try finding an highlighted word in a 76 pages PDF! This is so stupid. |
I've the same problem uploading PDF files in Firefox. IE works fine for me. I've posted the problem on the Docs groups but I've no answer yet... http://groups.google.com/group/How-to-Documents/browse_frm/thread/b9be516359d90912#
