The meta tag is not new, but the class is new.

Aside from microformats, I think this is the first time a company wants to standardize a specific value (notranslate) for the class attribute.

I would have liked to see a class that allows translation of only certain blocks of text while the rest of the page is disabled from translation by the meta tag. This would save me from adding the notranslate class to numerous spans/divs/etc.
