Can't wait till 3D printing is really cheap. TechCrunch had a post about another company doing 3D printing, Shapeways.
Shapeways looks like it supports a few of the formats that SketchUp can export to.

Unfortunately Shapeways can't print in full colour. Our clients like real estate developers and product developers prefer colour models (maquette) to optimize their designs, test concepts and find investors.

Our Software, CADspan (www.cadspan.com), greatly reduces the tedious nature of preparing the model for 3D printing mentioned in the above post. We worked directly with Google to develop a plugin for SketchUp (Free), and we also offer a pro version. Visit our website to learn more. Our parent company, LGM, has been the industry leader in 3D printing for architecture for more than 10 years. |
Thank you for blogging about our video on using 3D printing, SketchUp, and the Disney Concert Hall. We appreciate the mention! Cheers, Sweet Onion Creations Bozeman, Montana |
