Just had the following live for some seconds but then set it to non-public again as I failed to get the Greasemonkey script to work... can anyone tell me if it works for you? If so, I'd like to post again...

If you'd like to see the latest Twitter messages on top of Google results, give this hack a try [http://mt-hacks.com/20090302-realtime-twitter-search-results-on-google.html]. Mark of MT-Hacks created a Firefox Greasemonkey script which will perform a real-time search on Twitter, grabbing the 5 latest entries and displaying them as a kind of unofficial Google onebox. Could be a bit of overkill to display this for every query that has Twitter results, though, if that's what it does; usually, Google's official oneboxes (like direct news, blog, or image results) try to figure out if there's a higher possibility they're wanted. Mark however thinks "it really adds some freshness to Google search results pages."
In other recent news, Google now has an official Twitter channel [http://twitter.com/google], with already over 38,000 subscribers. The first message was "I'm 01100110 01100101 01100101 01101100 01101001 01101110 01100111 00100000 01101100 01110101 01100011 01101011 01111001 00001010", which is the binary-ASCII way of saying "I'm feeling lucky".

you can download it here: http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/43451 (anyway, Greasemonkey sucks) |
I did install it Tom, and it shows that it's installed and running on the google domain, the problem however is that I don't see any Twitter results in the Google.com search results... |
The script looks pretty interesting, and it works on mine. I did something with Twitter a while back, pretty similar, searches recent tweets but somewhat fancier. http://ihaochi.com/files/twitter-stream.html |
funny thing, i pitched something similar to blogoscoped a month ago [www.facesaerch.com/blog/google-search-with-twitter-integration/] but it wasn't news then. hmmm maybe it's just about timing and/or that my damin is blocked in this forum well well |
