>> "Google is celebrating with the launch of an exciting new product" said the invitation. <<
Will it be Gdrive ? |
I doubt it. The article also states:
<< Google will announce the next step in Gmail's evolution, a new product with "a European multilingual angle," on Monday.
At an event in Brussels to mark Gmail's fifth birthday, Google will look at the impact of cloud computing on how people manage their daily tasks, review Gmail's evolution to date and announce the next step in its progression, the company wrote in an invitation.
[...]
Monday's announcement is not about the end of the beta trial, though: "It has more of a European multilingual angle to it," a Google spokesman said. >>
It wouldn't surprise me if you'll be able to select your preferred language and then receive all emails in that language, regardless of their source language (although perhaps limited to European languages at first). There's already doing something similar in Google Reader, so Gmail is definitely one of the next steps for their statistical machine translation software. |
I think it will be the launch of Gmail Labs in European languages. |
Today is Larry Page's birthday.
larry : happy b'day! |
Maybe it's a surprise b-day party for Larry? |
The conference is at 3 PM CET:

CET or CEST?
(Europe moved into Summer Time over weekend, so the time in Brussels is currently in CEST.) |
It's 3 PM local time.

"Gmail labs being launched in 47 languages" |
So Luka got that one spot on: http://blogoscoped.com/forum/152394.html#id152399
I wonder if anything else will be announced on 1st April. |
<< ...we thought there was a chance that everything would just break. Every time a Gmail user signs in we create a custom version of JavaScript for them based on the Labs features they have enabled. Since we have 43 Labs right now, there are 243 (~8 trillion) possible versions of the Gmail JavaScript that a user could get. If you account for the 49 languages where Labs are now available, it gets even bigger – 49 x 243 (~430 trillion) versions... >>
WOW!!!!!!!!! |
my account start to show gmail labs in Italian from this Evening... |
Many news sources said on Tuesday that new languages are available already, but the exact launch day is today?? |
