A lot of rumours are going on that Google is to become one of the main sponsors of a new team next year. That team will focus on the Tour de France and one of the main teammembers would be Lance Armstrong? Teamleader would be Johan Bruyneel, present teamleader of Team Astana, the team of Lance Armstrong, and friend of Armstrong.
A big announcement will be made tommorow.
From Facebook: Lance Armstrong Making a very cool announcement on Thursday re: a new American partner for our team in 2010 (and beyond). Stay tuned! (via www.livestrong.com) |

And a lot on twitter too! |
Well if it would be Google they could just predict or search the tour winner :-). Does Google sponsor any commercial projects? |
Noooooooooo... if they discover he takes drugs, I don't know how Google will react..
Websonic yes, GeoEye 1
|
A helmetcam street view of the Tour de France would be interesting. Google used the Tour de France route to launch Street View in France last year, so it seems someone at Google is interested in it.
But if Google starts putting their money into sponsoring sports teams to buy attention, rather than developing more cool stuff, it will mark a turning point for the company. |
Art-one Yes, but IMO "organizing some sort of a training event about blogging" is a little closer to Google's business than biking. |
Jérôme You are right, there are all kinds of sponsorships that can be found, but most are more or little related to Google business. We'll know more in short...
TOMHTML More names are circulating: also Oracle, etc. |
NetApp announced today that they start sponsoring a new cycling team. http://twitter.com/CXI/statuses/2794608423
Is this the same thing? |
Apple's new Final Cut's tutorial videos repeatedly show a guy training for a bike race... curiouser, curiouser. |
Rumours on Twitter are speaking about Radioshack as sponsor: http://search.twitter.com/search?q=radioshack
But then again: http://twitter.com/Procycling_mag/statuses/2798404542 Sources say it ain't.
More around 1800 . |
it seems it will be Radioshack after all. |
