In Germany, the barcode as a symbol/ metaphor is usually used when expressing "privacy invasion/ mindless commercialized masses/ big brother repression".

To commemorate the patent that was issued October 7th, 1952 Google's homepage image today is a barcode.
The barcode contains "Google" in the Type of CODE128

I feel comfortable with that barcode instead of Google's logo. I already know it's google, so it's ok. It makes me think of Marlboro at certain places where that kind of advertisment it's forbidden, over F1 cars.
I'm already thinking if it's worthy to make a greasemonkey script to keep the barcode! |
