"YouTube is down for maintenance and will be back shortly."
This has happened before, but it's not common like those notices saying that YouTube is undergoing maintenance and will be 100% back soon. Yet another reason YouTube is so un-Googley. Why does YouTube maintenance have to be so cumbersome?

Although Pierre claimed "case closed", i can't help but hope...

[below, from the other thread titled "YouTube 500 Internal Server Error?"]

Trying to view this page, i get a big long error message and that big block of text changes each time i refresh http://www.youtube.com/user/tomrogers123

Apparently it isn't unheard of. Anybody else ever run into it before? http://www.google.com/search?q="A+team+of+highly+trained+monkeys+has+been+dispatched+to+deal+with+this+situation."

Hmm, ok still down here at the moment (YouTube.com and YouTube.nl). By the way erictric suggest that it has to do with the YouTube store. But that would be strange because the shop is online since August.

I just signed into youtube with my youtube username instead of my google account, and it said they would soon be phasing this out. How long has it been saying this?

Sorry to bump this-- i ask how long has this been happening because i hope that it might indicate that Google could soon do away with the one channel per account system they have going on
