This Thursday Chrome OS beta will be launched according to a tweet from Matthew Yorke from IDG. Yorke tweeted this after an conversation with Eric Schmidt.

I will stick with my current OS. I'm in love with my Ubuntu.

Yeah, Chrome OS might be nice for cloud computing, but i'll probably be sticking with Ubuntu. Chrome OS is just linux with a new look and pushing everything to the cloud anyways.
