This is going to be the set top box to have. I wonder if it can function as a standalone IPTV device. If there's one company that could make me not hate TV so much, it's Google, and it looks like they've succeeded. I kinda liked hating television!

Google just now added the official blog post:

<< Google TV is a new experience for television that combines the TV that you already know with the freedom and power of the Internet. With Google Chrome built in, you can access all of your favorite websites and easily move between television and the web. This opens up your TV from a few hundred channels to millions of channels of entertainment across TV and the web. Your television is also no longer confined to showing just video. With the entire Internet in your living room, your TV becomes more than a TV — it can be a photo slideshow viewer, a gaming console, a music player and much more.

Google TV uses search to give you an easy and fast way to navigate to television channels, websites, apps, shows and movies. For example, already know the channel or program you want to watch? Just type in the name and you’re there. Want to check out that funny YouTube video on your 48” flat screen? It’s just a quick search away. If you know what you want to watch, but you’re not sure where to find it, just type in what you’re looking for and Google TV will help you find it on the web or on one of your many TV channels. If you’d rather browse than search, you can use your standard program guide, your DVR or the Google TV home screen, which provides quick access to all of your favorite entertainment so you’re always within reach of the content you love most. >>

I wonder if the software will be released for home-brew DVR's and HTPC's. I really hope it will!

That TechCrunch screenshot is hilarious. "Mother's Day MILF". If Steve Jobs ever needed some ammo on porn, there it is....

Quoting androidSPIN.com's article:

"....
Sony is building TV’s with the new Google TV technology built in, Logitech are building add-on boxes to use on your exiting TV’s and Intel are providing the processors.
We also heard that Google has partnered with Dish Network for integration into Dish digital video recorders. Sounds like a good team to me. I wonder who else is getting involved in the background!

Comment posted by someone including text 'Mother's Day MILF' was removed.

However, it was not suspicious, it was from the screenshot of Techcrunch article

Cry not for unintelligible comments, Argentina^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H, er... Juha-Matti. There has been far too many such posted here lately, both by kiddie spammers, and by the truly self-centered wannabe hackers who just discovered this website and are beyond themselves with praise and admiration – so please continue posting articles because now they'll sure be reading. Or something. They're all nuisance and no fun, though, as they can never contribute anything of substance, much less such comprehensible at a glance.

Not _crying_ in any way, absolutely...
