google released picasa 3.8 with face movie, picnik integration and more. |
Is there video support onGNU/Linux yet? |
Face Movie looks very good. |
google stopped development of picasa for linux |
... with Wine :-(
I'd like we could do "Face Movies" online |
The last version Google released for Linux was 3.0 beta, and even that was through a Wine wrapper :(
When I click the Face Movie button, I get a message box saying "This feature is not supported on Linux". And I've been told that to be able to edit photos in Picnik you need to install the Windows version of Flash through Wine.
A native version would be appreciated. |
I doubt Google will ever release a native version. Most likely, they'll build a better online photo editor that will also work in Linux. |
"There are benefits to using the YT player, which you'll see soon". |
Picasa now uses the Youtube player, much like Blogger: http://buzz.blogger.com/2010/06/updated-accurate-post-preview-and-new.html
<< The new Blogger video player allows full-screen viewing – now visitors can watch videos that you published on your blog in full-screen mode. The new player also features a better user interface, such as animated seekbar (the red bar along the bottom of the video) and bigger buttons. You can also right-click on the player to see more information about the video, such as playback performance (“Show Video Info”) or network speed (“Take Speed Test”). Note that despite the new video player, the videos you upload to Blogger are still only visible on your blog, not on YouTube. >>
Next up: Google Video to use the YT player. |
Since Picasa video doesn't display any ad (yet), why aren't the player in HTML5? Unless one of the "the benefits" of the YT player is Adsense revenue sharing... |
That's another advantage of using the YT player: the HTML5 player. |
