i would assume it has to do with the geocodes and the scale of that map.

A very well put together mashup by Nike, on the other hand I am very surprised Nike being an American company did not put anything together for any of the distinct cities in the US (New York, San Francisco, Seattle, and Chicago). Hopefully in the near future we see something as similar for cities in the US.

Maybe this is a BETA. And this will become the starting point of a world wide campaign ... I like the realization of an old idea very much: Socializing by running together.
