This is not from Google, it made by Kevin Jarnot...
It sucks...

No, apparently it's actually not from Kevin, but official.

Look at this post where Kevin found it:

The user BillTheCat already made official sounding announcements on this Keyhole BBS:

Philipp is correct – Google inserted this at the source – it's not a user-generated photoshop job.

Ha, that's funny. For the offline version, the coordinates are:
37 14'41.55"N, 115 49'12.37"W

I assume that you have click on this link: http://www.jarnot.com/misc/area51-aprilfools.kmz

If it is official, it should be link to google, or maybe keyhole.

Hwy guys. I just tried to open Google Earth and it said that I have to sign in with a license key. What is that? It worked before and now it won't let me in. Strange....

If you want to get there more easily, open Google Earth, open the Places menu. Scroll down to temporary places.

It appears Google had GE automatically download a placemark on loading today that overlays the alien image.

I've saved mine for future enjoyment :-D.

Most, you can click "enter free mode" or something to the right side of that dialog.. that should get you in.

Someone uploaded the placemark, so you can still see it by opening that.
