You do have "history" – just hit ctrl-enter or shift-enter on the query term that's highlighted and it will be put into "history" so when you hit the back button it'll be there later.

alternatively (where's that edit button? :)) you can just click 2 times on a selected (suggested) query to put it into 'history' ....

I like the idea of Livesearch... I also wrote about it on my blog yesterday :)
