I just did a search on [Dan Brown] on google and noticed that the Wikipedia hit had a description not found anywhere on the target page:
Dan Brown – Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Short description of the author and links to reviews of all his books. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dan_Brown – 52k – 2 Jun 2006 – Cached – Similar pages – Note this
I took my hypothesis one step further and searched for [George W Bush] and [Bill Clinton]. These descriptions seem to have been applied to popular articles, I couldn't find that many, but there are some.
Is this Google Co-op in the works or did I just find some behind the scenes work between Wikipedia and Google? |
It is the page's DMOZ description. http://www.google.com/Top/Arts/Literature/Authors/B/Brown,_Dan/?il=1 |
Ah, so that's why some descriptions for horrible pages make more sense than the page itself sometimes... |
