You can invite users to spreadsheet just like writely

I found that if you invite a user to view a shared spreadsheet, they can then login anytime and create spreadsheets of their own.

Just click the share link in the spreadsheet, and have the user view it. After they are in your spreadsheet they have access. To get to spreadsheets in the future, they just have to go to the link: Once you go here, you're viewing one of my shared documents. After you login, you should be able to access it anytime from this link: https://www.google.com/accounts/ServiceLogin?service=wise&passive=true&nui=1&continue=http%3A%2F%2Fspreadsheets.google.com&ltmpl=invited-google

Worked for a few people I know.

use the link above.

come on, people. no one seem to understand that this is the only link to get into Google Spreadsheets. There's no invite. If you get the mail from Google, this is what you'll see:

"Thanks for signing up to use Google Spreadsheets! Your Google account associated with this email address [email removed on request] has been activated, so you can begin sharing spreadsheets on the web!

Please access Google Spreadsheets at this link (you may need to sign on): https://www.google.com/accounts/ServiceLogin?service=wise&passive=true&nui=1&continue=http%3A%2F%2Fspreadsheets.google.com&ltmpl=invited-google
"

I hope it's clear now.

This method doesn't work anymore.

Well, actually it does work. There is no Google invite system as such, but if you invite just any old email address to edit a spreadsheet, you should be able to just log in fine with that email address after that.

Can anyone see Writely at the moment?

Yes, I can log in to Writely? Why does it seem down to you?

Actually, I tried that link *before* I received my invite and it didn't work. I think that it only worked for *some* people who had already requested an invite because Google had already associated their Google Account to Google Spreadsheets but not sent the invite out...
