You say you can't get the bookmarklets to work, what browser are you using?

Firefox... and I don't see any results... nothing happens.

For all of them? What version of FireFox?

Could you look in the JavaScript console to see if there's any error messages?

Phil, maybe you could first describe what I'm actually supposed to see. What I did was to bookmark the JavaScript, then go to a Google Maps location, then run the JavaScript – expecting to see some changes on the map, but nothing showed, even after many seconds.

You don't say which bookmarklet you're using, but if you use "Google Maps Load XML Data Example Bookmarklet" (the first on the page) it should move the map to a location in Vancouver, Canada with the description "Something".
