What is the thing on my PC that changes the default search to Google?
A little (G) icon appears in systray.

That is NOT 'don't be evil.'

Hope its not similar to WGA, leaking personal info. Even if it was I wouldn't believe that. ;)

GOOG has updated the toolbar and removed the bugs.

You can see in the screenshots it's easy to disable the monitor.

Is it checked by Defaulted ?

Unfortunately it is. And the setting has this text in the installer:

"Set Google as default search in IE and notify me of changes"

Hmm well it was bound to happen sooner or later now wasn't it.

So they just block it and use the text notify ?

You can disable the setting, or allow a change, but this move just doesn't feel right.

we'll call it a simple mistake :)

Just like "It's a feature not a bug" maybe Google will say "It's a bug not a feature" ;)

It's a feature that had a bug.
